The success of the Abilene Philharmonic and our commitment to the community depends on volunteers from the surrounding area who help create an outstanding experience for all patrons.
Whether you are a high school or college student, working adult or retiree, we have opportunities for you to enrich your life and the lives of others, meet people with similar
interests, and help fulfill the Philharmonic’s mission while having fun!
An Abilene Philharmonic volunteer is an individual who chooses to give his or her time and talents as part of a team, with dedication, enthusiasm, and flexibility.
The Abilene Philharmonic Box Office is always looking for fun, energetic volunteers, 18-years or older, to help during the night of performances. We need volunteers to help with Will Call, ticket sales and answer questions patrons might have in order to make their symphony experience an enjoyable one.
Volunteers who assist with stage management enjoy being behind the scenes with guest artists and musicians, helping with transportation, auditions, and concert and special event logistics.
Do you enjoy more tedious task and understand how important that are to an organization? These tasks can include filing, data management, bulk mailers, orchestra library assistance, and more!
Interns can support every aspect of the Philharmonic’s operations. Click here for information on current internship opportunities.
Abilene hosts open their homes on concert weekends for musicians who come from out of town. These hosts allow us to recruit fine players while lowering production costs. Many patrons build a lasting relationship with these musicians and hosting them for a weekend becomes a tradition.

The Belles and Beaus is a group of young men and women that support the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra and its Guild. The participants volunteer by ushering for Philharmonic events, and aldo serve as volunteers at the annual Gala and Brunch. Belles and Beaus participate in the program while in the 8th and 12th grades. The program is composed of students from all Abilene and surrounding area schools, and is recognized by the Texas Governor as an important program serving our community.

Guild members meet nine times each year between September and May to enjoy performances by local musical talent in beautiful homes of members, share news of upcoming concerts, fellowship, and a light meal. Guild volunteers coordinate school student seating for the Philharmonic Discover Music Series concerts. The Guild hosts the Philharmonic Gala, its major annual fundraiser.
